DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATIONS:

Casa Colibri is a four-bedroom house that sleeps eight. There are two bedrooms with a king size bed each, a third bedroom a queen size bed, and a fourth bedroom with two twin beds. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom with shower.

All the bedrooms have hanging fans and are air conditioned as well. The main palapa and the kitchen are cooled by hanging fans. There is a guest bathroom with shower in the main palapa, or casa grande.

Casa Colibri's casa grande is an open structure, supported on columns. All other rooms are walled, but two of the bedrooms are palapa structures, with conical, palm-front roofs and large, open vents at the peaks. There is an up-to-date kitchen with six-burner gas range, large double sink, 22 cu. ft. refrigerator, toaster, blender, microwave and full set of pots and pans, glassware, silverware and kitchen knives.

The master bedroom on the second floor opens onto a tiled rooftop terrace with a wet bar with sink and small fridge.

Casa Colibri has its own private pool, shielded from view.

NOTE: The pool has a propane heater; because of the high cost of propane, use of the pool heater is an additional $250 USD per week or $36 USD per day, payable directly to the Rental Manager, Ismael Franco.

There is no land-based telephone service available at Casa Colibri or at Punta el Custodio, although the gatehouse has a reliable antenna-based cell phone for emergencies. Your U.S.-based cell phone may or may not work at the Point. This is rural Mexico!

Casa Colibri does not have a television set, DVD/VHS player or stereo, so you are encouraged to bring your own portable systems.

RESERVATION & CANCELLATION POLICY (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!)

Rates are based on seven nights, usually Saturday afternoon through Saturday morning. Check-in is 2 PM and check-out is 11 AM. Meal Packages (required) are additional (see below). Look at our Meal Plans page for details. Excursions, such as whale watching, birding or deep-sea fishing may be arranged with the General Manager, Ismael Franco, at extra cost.

The weekly rate includes maid/cook service 5 ½ days a week: the maid is off from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning. Linens are changed twice a week. Any reasonable request for additional items or services can be made to Ismael Franco, who also runs a small commissary at the gatehouse that sells wine and liquor, in addition to other optional food and beverage items.

The maid provides laundry service for personal items given to her in the morning. There is no laundry service Saturday afternoon or all day Sunday. Due to the fragility of appliances in this salt-air environment, only the maid has access to the laundry room and the washer & dryer.

To reserve, we require a deposit of 50% of the total rental plus a $300 USD security deposit. The deposit must be received within ten calendar days of your requesting the reservation; if after 10 days your deposit has not been received, we may rent the house to another party.

If you cancel your reservation more than 90 days before arrival, 90% of your deposit will be refunded. If canceled between 60 and 90 days, 60%; between 30 and 60 days, 30%; and 30 days or less, 0%.

The $300 security deposit is collected at the time the reservation is booked, and will be mailed back to you approximately two weeks after checkout if no charges against it are incurred. A larger security deposit is required for stays longer than two weeks.

Final payment for the rental is due 30 days before arrival. If not paid on time, your rental period will be halved and we will advertise the remaining half of your unpaid rental period for others to rent.

Food packages must be paid for in cash or travelers' checks: Ismael Franco cannot accept personal checks or credit cards. If you have general questions or need additional information, please contact Rachel Korshin at colibri.rental@gmail.com, or call 907.276.8838 or 907.346.2143

WHAT IS AND ISN’T INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL:

We’ll provide the house including towels, linens, dinnerware, flatware, dishes and other kitchen and dining items as commonly used by our own family when we’re living in the house. Toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, shampoo and conditioner are provided. No reimbursement will be made for unused consumables left on the premises. No telephone, TV, stereo, video games, Internet or other electronic devices or services are provided. Like all homes, there are private areas: a locked storage room and the laundry room -- Moña, our maid/cook, will launder bed linens, towels and your personal laundry on a daily basis (except for Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday). The private pool is provided in an unheated state.

Because this is rural Mexico, there are unpredictable outages of electricity, water and propane gas. The salt air causes rapid corrosion of appliances and all electrical devices. The staff will make every effort to make timely repairs in case of breakdowns, but there are no guarantees. No refunds or compensation will be given for any outages or failure of equipment, utilities or appliances.

We also will not make any refund of rental amounts due to shortened stays or ruined expectations because of weather conditions tide conditions (see IMPORTANT NOTE below) or the presence of insects or other jungle pests or other occurrences or conditions beyond our control: Punta El Custodio is a jungle environment. There can also be no refunds of rent because of shortened stays or ruined expectations due to a renter’s work, family emergencies or other commitments.

By renting Casa Colibri, renters indemnify and hold harmless the owners against any and all claims of personal injury or property damage or loss arising from the use of Casa Colibri regardless of the nature or cause of the accident, injury or loss.

Casa Colibri has a sometimes-resident and well-behaved cat, named Felix, who keeps small pests away. If you don’t like cats, just nicely kick him out of your bedroom and close the door.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BEACH ACCESS!

Punta el Custodio sits on a high bluff above the Pacific Ocean. There are two stairways on the south side of the Point, leading down to the beach, which, when the tide is high, may not be accessible (that is, it may be covered with water). During low or minus tides, a vast, safe beach is readily accessible from the two stairways, but there are other times and seasons when tides are high, when entering the ocean requires careful avoidance of submerged rocks and children or poor swimmers are to avoid such times! A monthly tide table is provided to help you choose the best times to access the beach. If you have any questions about beach accessibility, please contact us.
